Why We Started Our Stay and Play Support Group for Children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
Welcome to our very first blog post! We’re excited to share our journey with you and highlight the fantastic moments we've experienced in our Stay and Play Support Group for children with special educational needs (SEN), disabilities, and medical needs. Our mission is to create an inclusive, engaging, and nurturing environment that fosters connection, creativity, and support.
Reducing Isolation for Families
One of the primary reasons we launched this group was to combat the isolation that many families face when caring for a child with SEN. We understand how challenging it can be to find community and connection in a world that often overlooks the unique needs of these incredible children. Our group provides a safe and welcoming space where families can come together, share experiences, and build friendships.
Support for Parents
We also recognized the need for support among parents and caregivers. The journey of raising a child with special needs can be overwhelming, and it’s crucial to have a network of understanding individuals. Our sessions are not just for the children; they offer a supportive environment for parents to connect, share resources, and find encouragement. Together, we can navigate the ups and downs of parenting children with disabilities.
A Fun, Messy, and Creative Space
At the heart of our group is the desire to create a fun, messy, and creative space for children. We believe that play is an essential part of development, especially for children with SEN who may struggle to access traditional clubs and activities. Our weekly sessions are packed with messy play, sensory activities, and creative exploration, allowing children to express themselves freely and discover new ways to engage with their environment. From painting and sensory bins to interactive games, every activity is designed to be inclusive and accessible.
